“I paint on canvas using oils in my studios from photographs I take that inspire the outcomes of my paintings.  I also find that painting on location gives me the freshness and the correct light on the subject.  I constantly explore new techniques, colors, ideas by being able to learn from so many talented artists in workshops and tutorials around the country and abroad.  My paintings grace the homes and businesses in New York, Charleston, Kiawah Island, Charlotte, Asheville, Waynesville, and Niagara on the Lake, Canada.”

ABOUT

Jan is a professional oil painter featuring luminous landscapes,animal portraits, and post-impressionistic florals. Following her education at the University of South Carolina,Jan pursued further artistic studies in New York, Italy, South Carolina, and North Carolina.

She has participated previously in galleries in Charleston, S.C. and Waynesville N.C., group showings at Kiawah Island, S.C., Hayward Studio Tour, and

Art at Laurel Ridge in Waynesville N.C..

Jan’s compositions reflect a vibrant palette representing her journeys through the marsh covered terrain  and beaches of the coastal areas and the majestic landscapes of the North Carolina mountains.

Jan now resides in Waynesville N.C. and enjoys painting in her studio and plain-air,

photography, hiking, her friends, her family, and her puppy Coco.
